Frequently asked questions on customer billing, ecommerce merchant account integration, payment processing services, alternative billing, and more.
Bill2Phone™ identifies the billing telephone company each time a new customer is established for billing. If the customer changes telephone companies after he has been receiving charges for your service, the next scheduled charge will be rejected and returned to the merchant so that they can contact the customer in order to update the billing information.
BSG does not receive notification from the telephone companies when end-user payments are received. However, they do notify us when a charge fails to post to their bill or a customer has disputed a charge on the bill. BSG then returns any unbillable transactions to the merchant so that the customer can be deactivated or contacted for alternate payment arrangements.
Merchants can either handle their own customer support/inquiry service or utilize BSG’s customer service team to handle the inquiries. BSG offers Bill2Phone’s virtual terminal and Vision Track to assist merchants with managing customer inquiries. Merchants are able to initiate billing adjustments through virtual terminal, VisionTrack or the Bill2Phone™ API.
Approval varies by telephone company and ranges from approximately three to ten weeks depending upon the telephone company. Full implementation takes approximately 12 weeks. BSG’s implementation team specializes in streamlining your implementation experience.
For merchants needing an alternative authentication process, BSG will assist you with documenting your process and presenting it for approval to the telephone companies. Once approved, our technical support team will set-up your account for pre-authenticated transactions within the Bill2Phone™ engine.
BSG offers a subscription management feature within Bill2Phone™ which allows a merchant to establish the characteristics of the subscription (duration, frequency, and amount) and Bill2Phone™ will manage the rest! Alternatively, merchants are also able to manage their recurring subscriptions via their existing platform and initiate charges from their billing system.
BSG provides BC WebTrack® - an online reporting tool which generates a wide assortment of reports covering all aspects of a merchant’s billing and settlement processes. Bill2Phone™ also offers a virtual terminal interface which allows near real-time access to transactions processed by Bill2Phone™.

Billing content to a customer’s mobile bill requires a different process which is typically facilitated through a Premium SMS transaction. Due to the differences between wireline and wireless billing requirements, items that can be billed via Bill2Phone™ would not typically qualify for mobile billing. If you have a product that is a candidate for mobile billing, please contact us and we will direct you to one of our valued partners who specialize in this area.
Merchants are paid via a wire transfer. The typical payment cycle for an individual transaction averages approximately 70 days from the date of purchase. However, once a merchant has a steady transaction flow through the system, they can expect to receive weekly payments.
By using your home telephone bill as a payment option, you will not incur interest charges. You simply pay for the charges when you pay your monthly telephone bill. No credit card is required.
BSG provides several different options for authenticating a customer prior to charging purchases to the customer’s home phone bill. All accounts are screened to identify the billing telephone company. This screen also includes a 21-point fraud check and a check against the telco account information. The authentication process requires the customer to provide a piece of private information, such as the last four digits of their social security number, which is then validated against external industry sources. The customer can also be authenticated via a third party verification process.
